Simon Cook Therapy Counsellor
I’m Simon Cook a qualified counsellor and my company is called Find Clarity Counselling. I work in the area around Basingstoke, Hampshire where I see clients face to face as well as online meaning that we can connect from anywhere around the UK.
When it comes to therapy, I believe that developing our self-awareness allows us to choose and change the way we want to think, feel and behave in life. It sounds simplistic when it’s written down like this but I know from my own personal counselling that this process can take a tremendous amount of patience, dedication and commitment. The results though can be literally life changing.
It takes courage to explore our inner thoughts, challenge our existing behaviours and look closely at our relationships but it’s worth it to reach a point of clarity, a place of contentment and a state of happiness in life.
What is Simon's approach to counselling?
I believe that you are the expert on your own life and that deep down you already hold the answers within. So if that’s the case why do you need a counsellor? Well, I believe that something is stopping you from seeing those solutions and my role is to help move the obstacles out of the way so you can find your own path. If I were to give you the answers, it wouldn’t work (that’s assuming that I would know the answers which of course I don’t because I am not you and I don’t live your life). I believe you need to go through the process of discovery in order to be able find clarity. As a fully trained therapy counsellor I am dedicated to listening closely and being alongside you to help explore and find a way through.
You might have heard of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Person-Centred Counselling or Psychodynamic Counselling and maybe Existential Therapy. I call on these approaches and a range of others when working with my clients. I trained as an Integrative counsellor which essentially means that I’m not tied to one particular way of working – I integrate different types of therapy to suit your requirements and we have the flexibility to adapt how we work as your needs and direction change.
