Suicidal Thoughts Counselling in Basingstoke Suicide Therapy

Suicide counselling in Basingstoke at Find Clarity Counselling. Therapy for suicidal thoughts and suicide ideation from a confidential and safe counselling room on the edge of Basingstoke.

Research shows that with appropriate intervention and support, suicide can be prevented. Counselling and talking therapy offers such support and as a counsellor working in mental health I have over 20 years of experience supporting people with suicidal thoughts.

In that time I have learnt that nobody experiences their suicidal thoughts in the same way and that the contributing factors are always different. Crucially, as a counsellor, I provide a confidential and safe place to explore any dark, distressing thoughts you might have. As a trained professional I won’t judge you or any of the thoughts or feelings you are experiencing. You will able to speak freely and know that you are not burdening anyone.

It’s not uncommon for people to experience passive suicide ideation which means you might consider ‘what would happen if I drove my car into that wall’ or ‘what would it be like if I jumped from this high building’. Whereas active suicide ideation is when you create a specific plan of how and when you would end your life.

Basingstoke Suicidal Thoughts Counselling

I also provide counselling for self harm in Basingstoke and often but not always, self harm can be an indicator of the feelings of overwhelm and the despairing loss of control associated with wanting to end your life. Not everybody who has suicidal thoughts engages in self harm though and for many, ending their life through suicide is seen as a way out of the pain they are experiencing and a release from the overwhelming stress of living their life as it is.

As well as my counselling room in Basingstoke where I have met with numerous people experiencing suicidal ideation, I have also spent over 11 years with Samaritans working as a listener and as a member of the training team where I helped train volunteers so that they could develop the necessary skills to support people thinking about ending their life through suicide.

If you are based around Basingstoke my in-person counselling is sensitive, informed and respectful of your wishes. Similarly if you are outside the Basingstoke area I provide online therapy for those affected by suicide directly or indirectly.

For example, therapy support extends not just to the individuals involved but counselling can also provide relief to families and friends who are affected by those close to them who are experiencing suicidal thoughts. This might include those who have suicidal feelings and those who may have made suicide attempts.

Please get in touch. You will be assured a compassionate welcome but also a realistic approach with a counsellor who is not afraid to explore the depths of how you might be feeling and someone who won’t shy away from listening to the challenges you’re experiencing.
